We are looking for candidates that are responsible for servicing and maintaining electrical systems and associated parts on and off sites. They must be a team player, work closely with fellow employees and be responsible for the safety of themselves and others. The primary duties will be mainly to do with cranes, hoists and their electrical components. There will be additional duties that the candidate may be required to do at the yard or on job sites. All work will be done in accordance with BCSA (BC Safety Authority) and TSBC (Technical Safety BC) rules and regulations.

  • Ability to work independently without supervision while meeting or exceeding goals and objectives set out by management
  • Technical knowledge of hoists, self-erecting and tower cranes
  • Maintaining of crane and hoist electrical systems and associated accessories.
  • Troubleshooting and deciphering complex electrical diagrams.
  • Special Electrical project assignments.
  • Helping create workflows and processes for electricians.
  • Effective use of hand and power tools
  • Ability to effectively operate equipment such as forklifts and self-erecting cranes in a safe manner
  • Work closely with and maintain a good working relationship with all suppliers.
  • Loading and unloading of hoists, cranes and accessories in the yard or on job sites.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and some hydraulic components on hoists and cranes.
  • Assist with set up and take down of cranes and hoists as needed, also complete dismantle and assembly of cranes either new from factory or in a refurbishment process.
  • Perform preventative scheduled maintenance and repairs to ensure safe and proper working order of hoists and cranes.
  • Complete all paperwork neatly and clearly at the end of each project to keep accurate and professional service records.
  • Commitment to Bigfoot Crane’s safety culture; responsible for personal safety and the safety of co-workers.
  • Attend site visits with customers prior to hoist installations, jumps and removals to ensure that site is ready for our services.
  • Understand and comply with all Bigfoot Crane policies and procedures.
  • Complete daily paperwork on time and with impeccable quality
  • Follow daily direction from Bigfoot Service Advisor
  • Work with BCSA inspectors on hoist inspections and rectify deficiencies.
  • Achieve and hold current fall protection training as well as high angle rescue certificates.
  • Keep service vehicles clean and organized.
  • Ensure service vehicle inventory is stocked and parts are managed daily as per Bigfoot inventory program.
  • Be available by phone for service advisors as it relates to hoist emergencies. After hours callouts to local clients may be required.
  • Must be able to travel and stay lengths of time on the road.
  • All other duties assigned.

You bring these skills/attributes to the job:

  • Being a qualified electrician with minimum 4 years’ experience would be an asset
  • Respect for working at heights, being physically fit and able to handle the demands of this industry.
  • Strong ability to communicate information to customers and employees.
  • Knowledge of proper rigging practices
  • TSBC Class C or Class C MIT would be ideal
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills as well as an excellent understanding of customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to complete mandatory paperwork with impeccable results.
  • Possess a current Class 5 Drivers license in good standing with a respectable driving history.
  • Compliance with Bigfoot Crane Company Inc. policies and procedures which will be developed or updated from time to time.

Your peace of mind is important to us, which is why Bigfoot team members and their immediate family (spouse/significant other & children) are eligible for full benefits after three months of continuous employment. Employees pay premiums for Short Term Disability (STD), Long Term Disability (LTD), and Life Insurance. This means you won’t be taxed if you ever have to draw on one of them. Employee premiums are prorated and deducted on a bi-weekly payroll deduction. Bigfoot pays all remaining premiums.
